Joshua Tarrant

I created this blog to keep track of my racing exploits. I am currently racing with a great elite team out of Michigan (Team Lathrup/Giant)formerly Ford/Giant Cycling team. This makes it easy for my family to read about my races and see pictures of me in action. Thank you very much for positive comments and for reading

Hilly in Kentucky

This weekend the WMU team went down to Columbia, Kentucky for the Lindsey Wilson RR on sat and a Crit on sun. The road race course is alot of fun with alot of climbs and some fast decents. The race went ok for me, a little more climbing than i am used to but still a good race, i finished up 9th and earned some good pts. On sunday there was a 65min crit, on a 1mile course with 10 turns on it. Think about that, it was a lot of turning but still fairly fast course. About 30 min on a prime lap i attacked and got clear, i was flying solo for about 20 min before a marina rider (John Royal) and Lindsey Wilson rider (Keith Skiles) bridged accross. with about 6 laps to go in the race we dropped Keith and John and i continiued to work with each other. On the last lap John attacked hard into a corner and got a gap on me that i wasn't able to close. He won the race and i got a hard fought 2nd. I managed to get alot of prime pts so even with his win, i ended up only 1 pt less than him for the race. As the current standing are, I am first in the conferance overall. A good feeling as i have yet to be first at anything on a bike. Anyways more to come.

Weekend in Ohio

This past weekend we had 2 races in Ohio near Columbus, As we were heading for the first race on saturday, we recieved a call that it had been cancelled due to snow, so we checked into a hotel and waited for nicer weather to head out for a training ride. Sunday's race was about a 6mile rectangle in open farmland Ohio. It was a short race only 7 laps and very very windy. From the gun Mike Kurberg from IU attacked right away, he opened up a good gap and his 10 teammates went to the front to control the race. after a few minutes i realized this was a pretty serious attack, so i started looking for a good moment for me to make a bridge accross to him. I jumped at a good moment in the gutter where nonone could get a draft off of me and started my bridge accross to him. It took me 3 laps finally catch him, but due to tactics he didn't want to work with me, so i continued to pull by myslef. He started to help with 2 laps to go because of a chase group of 7 on their way up to us. With one lap to go, he jumped hard on a hill and i wasn't able to follow, i had about 30sec on the chase group and continued to drive, one of mike's teammates bridged from the chase group to me and worked with me for the last half lap. We stayed together until the sprint where he outkicked me for second and i got 3rd. All in all i as very happy with my aggressive riding and ablity to go pretty hard. More to come, next weekend we are in Kentucky at Lindsey Wilson. Thanks for reading.
